The option codes decide the part
A servo motor's base model tells you its size and torque; the option codes that follow tell you which feedback device, brake, shaft and connectors it has. Two motors that look the same on a shelf can be wrong for each other's machines. Send the complete model number from the nameplate and the drive it runs on, and we quote servo motors and servo drives and amplifiers that match both. AC and DC motors, gearboxes and brakes
For general-purpose electric motors, the nameplate gives almost everything a quote needs: power, voltage, full-load amps, speed, frame and enclosure. A motor on a drive also has to suit the drive; reading a motor nameplate covers inverter duty and service factor. We quote the mechanical side too: gearboxes and speed reducers and brakes and clutches.
What to send for an accurate quote

Frequently asked questions
What do you need to quote a servo motor?
The complete model number from the nameplate, including the option codes, plus the drive it runs on. The option codes set the feedback device, brake, shaft and connectors, so two motors with the same base model can be different parts.
Can you quote a servo motor and its drive together?
Yes. Send both model numbers and tell us what is installed now if the axis was changed before. Each is quoted as its own line, so you can buy one or both.
Do you quote standard AC and DC motors too?
Yes: NEMA and IEC frame motors, DC motors, gearmotors and motors with brakes. Send the nameplate – horsepower or kilowatts, voltage, RPM, frame and enclosure.
Do I need to re-home the axis after replacing an absolute-encoder motor?
Usually, yes. On absolute-encoder systems plan to set the axis home or reference position again after the swap, following the machine builder's procedure.
How do heavy motors ship?
Motors too large or heavy for parcel service go by freight. Freight is quoted after packing, or up front if you ask for a freight quote first.
