Lifecycle status

Allen-Bradley PanelView Plus 6 (2711P) lifecycle status: what Rockwell says and what to do

Rockwell Automation lists the PanelView Plus 6 operator terminals, and the display and logic modules they are built from, as discontinued. Here is the manufacturer's own status, date and named replacement for the common 2711P catalog numbers, and what to check before a screen fails.

By Kunj Tapiawala, KIV Parts · Published · 7 min read

The Allen-Bradley PanelView Plus 6 is the operator screen on a great many machines and panels. Its catalog numbers start with 2711P: the 600 terminals, the larger 700, 1000, 1250 and 1500 terminals, and – for the larger sizes – display and logic modules sold under their own catalog numbers. This page lists what Rockwell Automation itself says about each common catalog number – nothing from distributor lists.

Key takeaways

  • Every PanelView Plus 6 terminal and module in the tables below is Discontinued on its own Rockwell product page.
  • The terminals were discontinued between September 30, 2021 and September 30, 2022.
  • Rockwell names a PanelView Plus 7 replacement for each 700 to 1500 terminal, and no planned replacement for the 600.
  • A PanelView Plus 7 talks Ethernet only and most sizes have a higher resolution: check the network and the application first.

What Rockwell's own pages say

Rockwell's product pages carry the same notice for each terminal. On the 2711P-T7C4D8 page, Rockwell announces that

“the PanelView Plus Terminal will be discontinued and no longer available for sale”

– Rockwell Automation, 2711P-T7C4D8 (Rockwell Automation product page), checked September 29, 2026

with a discontinued date of December 30, 2021. We opened Rockwell's product page for each catalog number in the tables below on September 29, 2026. The 600 terminals are Discontinued as of September 30, 2021. Among the 700 to 1500 terminals, the touch-screen models and the 700 keypad models are dated December 30, 2021 (the 1500 touch screens September 30, 2021), and the 1000, 1250 and 1500 keypad models September 30, 2022. The logic modules followed on September 30, 2023, and the communication modules and power supply later still.

The PanelView Standard (2711-) and original PanelView Plus catalog numbers we tried no longer have a Rockwell product page, so they are not listed. Our lifecycle status guide explains each status.

Read the replacement column closely: the named PanelView Plus 7 Performance terminal for a 1250 keypad model, the 2711P-T12W22D9P, is a widescreen touch screen.

Sources: every status, date and replacement on this page comes from Rockwell Automation's own product page for that catalog number (the “Rockwell” links in the Source column), read on September 29, 2026. Statuses change: before you buy or plan a migration, check the current status on Rockwell's product lifecycle search.

Moving to a PanelView Plus 7

Rockwell's PanelView Plus 6 Terminals to PanelView Plus 7 Terminals Catalog Number Conversions migration guide (publication 2711P-AP004F, April 2021) lists a PanelView Plus 7 option for each PanelView Plus 6, with the panel cutout of both, and adapter kits that let a PanelView Plus 7 Performance terminal fit the cutout of a 700, 1000 or 1250 terminal.

Two points from the guide matter most on the shop floor. Except for the 7 in. and 15 in. models, PanelView Plus 7 terminals have a higher resolution, so an application that is not resized runs in the top-left corner of the screen. And PanelView Plus 7 terminals communicate over Ethernet only: a PanelView Plus 6 on DH+, DH-485 or ControlNet needs a network plan before it can be replaced.

What to do now

  1. List every PanelView Plus 6 you run with the full catalog number, the display and logic module numbers if it is a 700 to 1500, the firmware revision and the network it uses.
  2. Back up each runtime application (the .mer file) and keep the FactoryTalk View project it came from.
  3. Keep like-for-like spares for screens on critical machines – a whole terminal, or for a 700 to 1500 a spare display or logic module. Our PLC and HMI quote page takes single parts; a list goes through our ISO list form and gets an official written quote in under 24 hours on business days.
  4. Plan the PanelView Plus 7 move screen by screen: check the cutout, resize the application and confirm the network before the outage.

Safety first: switch off and lock out the terminal's supply, following your site's lockout/tagout procedure and Rockwell's instructions, before you remove a PanelView Plus or separate its display and logic modules.

PanelView Plus parts in our stock

Surplus and used terminals and modules are now where a like-for-like PanelView Plus 6 comes from. Each catalog number in the tables links to a live search of our store; you can also browse all 2711P PanelView Plus results. Every item we stock is photographed, so check the catalog number, series and firmware on the label before you buy.

Can't find the one you need? Send the catalog numbers through the obsolete parts quote page and we'll check our shelves and our sourcing network. Purchase orders are welcome; payment is due before we ship.

Frequently asked questions

Is the PanelView Plus 6 discontinued?

Yes, for every catalog number we checked. Rockwell's product pages list the PanelView Plus 6 600 terminals as Discontinued on September 30, 2021, and the 700 to 1500 terminals on dates between September 30, 2021 and September 30, 2022. Display modules, logic modules and accessories followed, the last in 2024.

What replaces a PanelView Plus 6?

For each 700 to 1500 terminal in the table, Rockwell's product page names a PanelView Plus 7 terminal. For the 600 terminals, the pages say there is no planned Rockwell replacement; Rockwell's PanelView Plus 6 to PanelView Plus 7 migration guide covers the options.

Will my PanelView Plus 6 application run on a PanelView Plus 7?

Usually after some work. Rockwell's migration guide says most PanelView Plus 7 terminals have a higher resolution (not the 7 in. and 15 in. models), so an application that is not resized runs in the top-left corner, and that PanelView Plus 7 terminals communicate over Ethernet only.

What about PanelView Standard terminals?

Rockwell's site no longer had a product page for the PanelView Standard (2711-) catalog numbers we tried, so they are not on this page. Send us the catalog number and we'll check our shelves and our sourcing network.

Need a PanelView Plus 6 spare?

Send the catalog number from the label – one terminal or a whole list – and we'll check our shelves and our sourcing network and quote it in writing.
