Matching a breaker is more than amps
Two breakers with the same trip rating can be different parts. The frame decides the physical size and the maximum current; the interrupting rating decides how much fault current the breaker can safely clear; the mounting decides whether it fits the bus of your panelboard or switchboard at all. That is why we quote the full catalog number, and why a quote from us lists the frame, trip, poles, voltage and interrupting rating of each line when we know them. Most requests are for molded case breakers: a failed branch breaker, a main breaker for an older panel, or a set of identical breakers for a line of machines. We also quote miniature DIN-rail breakers for control panels, power breakers and breaker accessories, fuses and disconnect switches.
Switchgear parts for older lineups
Low-voltage switchgear often outlives the production of its breakers and trip units. When a drawout breaker's charging motor, closing coil or trip unit fails, the fastest fix is usually the same part from surplus, not a retrofit. Send the breaker's nameplate and a photo of the failed component; if the whole breaker is the better buy, the quote shows both options as separate lines. Frequently asked questions
Can you quote a breaker if the label is worn or painted over?
Often, yes. Send photos of the breaker from the front and the side, whatever frame markings you can read, the trip rating on the handle and the label inside the panel door. From those we can usually identify the catalog number, or we ask for the one detail that is missing.
Will a breaker from another manufacturer fit my panel?
Only if it is listed or classified for that panelboard or switchboard. We quote the catalog number you send; if you ask for alternatives, they are shown as separate lines so you can check them with your electrical engineer or inspector.
Do you quote drawout power breakers and trip units?
Yes. Low-voltage power and air circuit breakers, their trip units, rating plugs and racking parts are quoted from our stock when we have them and through our sourcing network when we don't. Send the breaker's full nameplate and, if you know them, the trip unit model and rating plug.
What condition are the breakers in?
We sell new surplus, used and refurbished breakers, and the condition of every line is stated on the quote. Every breaker we stock is photographed, so you see the actual unit and its label before you buy.
