Rockwell's migration path
- Rockwell's PowerFlex 70 page says the drive will be discontinued as of September 30, 2026 for the IP20/NEMA UL Type 1, IP54/NEMA UL Type 12 and flange versions, that the NEMA 4X versions stay Active Mature, and recommends moving to the PowerFlex 750 family of AC drives. (source)

Many plants do both: spares for the PowerFlex 70 drives that must keep running, and a dated plan to move off the platform. Our PowerFlex 70 lifecycle guide lists the steps: an inventory, a last-time buy for End of Life drives, parameter backups and spare storage. Every unit we stock is photographed; check the series and firmware on the label before you buy.
Safety first: a drive's DC bus capacitors can hold a dangerous charge after power is removed. Follow your site's lockout/tagout procedure and wait the time given on the drive's label; before anyone touches the terminals, a qualified person verifies zero voltage with a properly rated meter, checking the meter on a known source before and after.
