- Rockwell's path off the PLC-5 is the ControlLogix platform. Its PLC-5 migration page offers conversion tools, I/O wiring conversion systems and migration services, and says Rockwell still repairs PLC-5 controllers and I/O modules, discontinued ones included. (source)

- For the I/O, Rockwell's I/O Wiring Conversion Systems selection guide (publication 1492-SG121) lists a conversion module and a 1756 ControlLogix module for most 1771 I/O modules: the existing 1771 swing arm plugs onto the conversion module, so the field wires stay where they are. (source)
